Abstract: NC/RDX nano-composite energetic material with nitro-cellulose(NC) as gel matrix is prepared using sol-gel method, and the material is characterized by FTIR, XRD, SEM and TG/DSC methods. The results show that RDX is successfully composited with NC. The minimum RDX average crystallite size calculated by Scherrer equation is 50.16 nm, and although the crystallite size increases with the increase in RDX content, the maximum crystallite size is less than 100 nm. Both the temperature of maximum decomposition rate and DSC exothermic peak temperature of RDX in composite material are lower than that of RDX raw material.
