A New Chirp Signal Parameter Estimation Algorithm

Abstract: The output SNR at the true parameter values does not increase and the multiple peaks occur in WVHT image when the traditional Wigner-Ville-Hough transform (WVHT) is used to detect and estimate chirp radar signals. A chirp signal parameter estimation method based on period WVHT (PWVHT) is studied. The PWVHT formula of general signals is given, and the PWVHT formula of chirp signal is derived. The relationship among PWVHT output SNR, observation time and sample signal SNR is analyzed. The estimation error is analyzed and simulated using MATLAB. The results show that PWVHT is superior to WVHT for estimating a chirp signal that is composed of multiple pulses.
