Laser-driven flyer technology has many advantages, such as high velocity, relative simplicity and low cost, which cannot be found in conventional dynamic high-pressure generating technologies. The present situation of domestic and foreign researches of laser-driven flyer technology was reviewed, which involves the concept of laser-driven flyer technology, the constitutions of flyer target,the testing methods of flyer's performance and the application of laser-driven flyer to high pressure physics, space science, micro-forming technology of materials and the fast initiation of explosives. The development prospect of laser-driven flyer was highlighted, and some directions for the future research were suggested.
