Abstract:

During its development over the past sixty years, many different forms of transmissions have been used in high speed tracked vehicles. Historically, appearance of different transmissions configurations owed itself to the fact that none of them could perfectly satisfy the interrelated requirements involving straight running, steering and their overall performance. In recent years there has been a growing unanimity of opinion and it is believed that transmission system s will now be able to deliver more ideal results in their performances. In this paper, based on available statistics and published material, the development of high speed tracked vehicle transmission is analysed and some relevant data, concepts and conclusions presented。The information given might be of use to researchers, designers and manufacturers working in this field.
